"You never own your games" — storefront shutdowns kill re-downloads

Signal

Moderate-strong (~232 post), but thematically reinforced by the Japan wallet-expiry thread (~2.9K) — both are "my purchased value evaporates."

Opportunity

"Vault" — a desktop app that automatically archives offline installers + license receipts across GOG/Itch/Humble/Legacy-type stores to user-owned storage/NAS, with a "store health" risk alert when a storefront shows shutdown signals. Medium difficulty (per-store scrapers, ToS risk); subscription $3–5/mo.

Evidence

• Legacy Games shutdown
