Cast-iron care is a contradictory-advice minefield that makes people anxious about cookware
Reddit · r/popularmoderate-strong signalmixed2026-10-14
Pain point
Users can't get a straight answer on washing/seasoning. *"Wash your fucking pan… Who gives a shit"* vs. *"it makes me sad that nobody knows how to use a cast iron pan."* Plus an ESL confusion point: "seasoning" has two meanings.
Signal
Moderate-strong: 5.8K upvotes, visible frustration and a clear knowledge gap, but it's one thread and low monetary urgency.
